Gift Cards and Balances

Gift cards carry a PIN and a balance you can update at the till, and can be linked to the shop’s rewards card.

Quick start

Give a card the Gift type and it gains two things an ordinary card does not have: a PIN and a balance. Both show up with the barcode when you bring the card up at the checkout.

After you pay, tap Enter New Balance and put in what is left.

Going deeper

Linking to a rewards card

Where a shop has both, link the gift card to its rewards card. The pair then sits together and the Rewards / Gift chips appear in Scan Mode, so one card in your wallet covers both the points and the payment.

Keeping the balance right

Cardly cannot see what you spend — it has no connection to the shop — so the balance is only as accurate as your last update. The habit worth forming is updating it at the counter, straight after paying, while the receipt is still in your hand.

When a card is spent, set it to zero or delete it, so your wallet is not showing money that is not there.

The currency symbol

Balances are shown with the symbol set in Settings › Currency Symbol. Change it once and every gift card follows.
